Q =What do I need to do before my pet can travel to the U.K ?

A = You need to chip,passport and obtain a rabies vaccination 21 days prior to the pet transport departure date to the U.K. The pet needs to be at least 15 weeks old.

A = Your pet requires a rabies vaccination 21 days prior to departure and an animal health certificate issued by a U.K authorised vet within 10 days of entering the E.U

Q =What do I need to do before my pet travels from the U.K to Bulgaria or the E.U

A = To legally move goods or animals across borders, businesses must be registered and approved on the European "TRACES" and U.K IPAFFS notification databases. These registrations are crucial for making official legal notifications of departures and entries between different countries. Since Brexit, all goods—not just pets—require customs declarations to enter the UK. Ensuring compliance with these regulations is now more important than ever to avoid delays and legal issues at the border.

A = Yes, all long-distance drivers must hold an animal welfare certificate and undergo training in animal first aid and emergency procedures.

Q =Do you obtain the necesary Animal Health Certificate for U.K entry and traces/IPAFF for transit ?

A = Yes, the owner only has to ensure that the pets passport is in order with a chip and a valid rabies vaccination. We also recommend that dogs have a 4d and Canine Brucellosis test completed. Although this is not a U.K requirement it will save you a lot of money as most U.K vets insist on it now.

Other considerations - Since Brexit, taxes are now a key consideration when importing pets. Bulgaria requires taxes to be paid and the UK also needs to determine if any taxes are owed on the importation. While private owners don’t need to pay any import tax, anyone selling a dog—including charities—legally do. A declaration must be made in all cases and the necessary fees paid.
